for use. They contain juice, popsicles, jello & more. You may also

| Is baby taken to nursery? if so, how soon and for how long? | For vaginal births, baby remains with mother entire hospital
stay unless there is a complication. For cesarean births, baby is taken
to the nursery for a 4 hour "transitional period". Dad may stay with the
baby. |

| Can both partner and doula attend cesareans? | Only one support partner is allowed to attend cesarean
birth. Also, partner is allowed in the OR only after the operation has

| Eating/drinking in labor? | In general, most physicians would like you to stick to
ice chips and fluids only. |

| Fetal monitoring? | Typically, Doctors like to
have at least a 20 minute strip for each hour |

| IV/heplock: | An IV is routine, but doctor/midwife may allow a heplock instead. |

| Walking after rupture of membranes? | Yes, providing the head is low enough & there
are no complications or pain medications given. Also, bathing is usually
not accepted. However, most physicians will allow a shower.

| Pushing positions: | Squat bars are available. This varies from doctor to
doctor. Some will allow any position you are comfortable in & others
require semi-sitting position only. |
